About Douglas, MA.

Douglas, MA

Located in Worcester County, Douglas, Massachusetts was settled in the early sixteenth century. Originally known as New Sherborn, the town that would become Douglas developed swiftly in the 19th century.  Douglas quickly emerged as a tool-producing town, specifically axes which helped the town’s economy to grow. While Douglas no longer centers on manufacturing, today the town is home to over 5,000 residents.

For residents, Douglas’ location acts as a crossroads between Massachusetts, Connecticut and Rhode Island. Hartford, Connecticut is about two hours away, Boson is about an hour away, and Providence, Rhode Island lies about a half an hour south.

In the midst of this crossroads, about 1,500 students attend school in the Douglas School District, making the district smaller than other Massachusetts counterparts. The Douglass School District contains only four schools: Douglas Early Childhood, Douglas Elementary, Douglass Intermediate, and Douglas High School.

If you’re looking to settle in a town close the major cities, but with a small town atmosphere, Douglas maybe the perfect fit for you. Douglas real estate gives families and other residents plenty of room to grow with spacious lots as well as residential properties that stretch for acres. If you’re looking for something more glamorous in a smaller setting, be sure to look at Douglas’ luxury homes or for a smaller home space, try viewing condos in Douglas.
