About Holden, MA.

Holden, MA

Holden, Massachusetts real estate places buyers in a town that has roots in the neighboring community of Worcester. Around 1740, the citizens of Worcester decided to designate an entirely separate town that would become Holden. In the 1800s, the town would see the rise of mills throughout the community.  According to the Holden Historical Society, by 1831 Holden was the site of multiple mills including cotton mills, wooden mills, and tanneries. During the 1900s, the town also saw the rise and fall of the prominent dairy industry within Holden, while the late twentieth century brought modern construction of many of the town’s current governmental structures such as the post office and the department of public works amongst others.

Today, viewing Holden homes for sale means you’re exploring the prospect of living in a community of over 17,000 residents. In addition, families and their children will want to take a look at the historic Holden schools. For those interested, the Holden Historical Society chronicles  the history and development of Holden area schools. Currently, Holden area schools are part of the Wachusett Regional School District which encompasses thirteen schools serving students in pre-K through 12th grades.
